Parts Shop Max E36 & E46 Driveshaft Centre Support Carrier Bearing
Scarles is now the Home of Parts Shop Max!
We could not justify an $800 one-piece driveshaft at the shop M3‘s power level and also couldn’t put in another thin rubber OEM center support to replace the torn one with all the drift clutch kicking, so we made this billet part to hold a top of the line FAG brand bearing instead.
Tons of you appeared to be in the same situation so we made some more for you in 6061 aluminum with gold anodizing & laser marks to indicate which side faces forward depending on if you will install it into an E36 or E46.
Compatible with M and Non-M models excluding AWD.
The affordable bearing can be replaced separately from the housing if needed by removing the lock ring and knocking the bearing out of the housing.
Contact us if a bearing replacement is ever needed. We’ve included 3 semi-circular knockouts opposite of the snap-ring to assist in the removal of our slip fit assembly.
***Installation note: It is extremely important with solid carrier bearing that your driveline is lined up correctly and operates smoothly.
Be sure that your differential has not been moved when using aftermarket mounts. Tap the bearing onto the shaft using a 1.5" tube. Check that your driveshaft can spin easily by hand during and after installation.
Loosen the motor diff and DCB and spin the driveshaft by hand while slowly tightening everything and lock down the DCB last.
A balanced shaft wouldn't hurt and if everything in the driveline is solid it's a good idea to use a fresh stock guibo instead of an aftermarket aluminum and urethane one for the life of the transmission.
